Who are these soldiers & what were their Regiments? What is the relevance of the armbands?

Both soldiers appear to have signed this photograph. On the left the signature appears to be either C? Dodworth or C? Duckworth, while the one on the right is signed J Rolfe. Dodworth appears to hold the rank of either that of Corporal or Sergeant
